WHEREAS,1�2he Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance;_with
Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from February 1 to February 15, 1962 which rendered necessary
the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public .Works
for more than eight hours per day or forty hours pel, week in doing the
following work: 1
Emerge"' treet, building, sewer & bridge repair
Dispa men for emergency repair work
Dispa motor vehicles for all emergency work
Oper quipment on emergency repair work
Emer e alls for sewer maintenance
Removing snow from city streets & sanding icy streets
Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays

And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
.circumstances: !

Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping
city streets free from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant
continuously, taking complaint Wipecting y Yards, completing plans &
specifications for grading & pbs, need for grade profiles and
house numbers, completing side essments, keeping city equipment
in good running condition, and work done by contractors
on street & sidewalk work.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
