Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Water for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted, by the Council August 3, 1962. Approved' August 3, 1962. (August 11, 1962) WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from July 16th to July 31st, 1962 inclusive, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: (1) Repairing equipment, various stations. (2) Working extra shifts, various stations. (3) Repair two service connections broken by the power company. (4) Driving country crew to and from work. (5) Complete new main installation. AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: (1) Necessary to do work during low consumption hours. (2) Absence of employees on regular shifts. (3) In order to restore service as soon as possible. 4) On account of scattered work locations. 5) In order to put new main in service as soon as possible. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
