PAUL OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK COUNCIL RESOLUTION - GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONER Milton Asen DATP 2 A'3Q FILE ILCIL NO. _ WHEREAS, It has been found necessary to change, modify and amend certain portions of the plans and specifications heretofore approved for the construction'of a new ornamental lighting system on NINTH STREET from St. Peter Street to Wabasha Street; on EIGHTH STREET from ITabasha Street to North Robert Street (City Contract No. 62 -M -265) as approved July 25, 1962, by Council Resolution C.F. No. 208320, now therefore upon the recommendation of the Commissioner of Public Works be it, RESOLVED that the plans and specifications for the above named improvement, as approved by the Council, be and the same are hereby changed, modified and amended in accordance with Addendum No. 1, which is attached to and made a part of this Resolution and of the afore- mentioned plans and specifications, and that further all interested parties be notified of this addendum. ADDEND NO. 1 AREAWAYS, COAI�HOLES AND ZAP-DOORS In various locations the contractor will encounter subterranean structures where it will not be possible to construct or install lighting conduit and bases in the normal manner described in the specifications. When areas of this type are encountered it will be necessary to make the following changes. Lish�t Bases. When it is found necessary to install a light base in an areaway or other subterranean structure the base will be constructed to the full depth of the area encountered. When it is found that no satisfactory foundation exists for the extended base it will be necessary to excavate one foot in depth and the same area of the base and extend the base the additional one foot. Reinforcement shall consist of four vertical No. 4 deformed bars installed 12 inches on center in the form of a square and shall be tied with No. 4 hoops placed 12 inches on center. The approximate number of light bases that will be encountered is estimated to be ten and the average depth is estimated to be approximately 12 feet. C ns.dM t. When it is not possible to install conduit in the normal manner as outlined in the specifications the contractor shall fasten the conduit to the subterranean structure wall to the satisfaction of the Chief Engineer. The location of this conduit shall be within eighteen inches from the ceiling or roof of such structure. The length of conduit that will be installed in this manner is estimated to be approximately 715 lineal feet. = --BMe_s• When the location of pull boxes are such that they fall within the area of subterranean structures they will be moved to the closest area where there is a firm base existing and installed to the satisfaction of the Engineer.
