Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency
ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health,
and safety.
Section-3. This ordinance shall take effect -and be in force upon its
passage, approval, ,and publication.

An Ordinance amending Chapter 447A of
the Legislative Code of the City of Saint Paul.,
therein inserted by an amendment to said Legislative
Code of the City of Saint Paul by virtue of Ordinance
No. 12122, approved Janus,ry 4, 1962, and containing
provisions therefor and prohibiting certain business
activities on Sunday, defining the violations thereof
as misdeme�:zors and providing the vunis&ment to be
imposed for such violations,ao amended, by inserting
therein an aeditionel provision expressly excepting
therefrom the exhibition for s.1e and sale of
merchandise at any public :lerchandiso LiTocition at
any duly est- blished hotel or auditorium. Thia is an
emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preser-
vation of the public peace, health, and safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN]:
Seotion 1. That Chapter 447A of the Legislative Code of the City
of Saint Paul, therein inserted by an amendment to said Legislative Code of the
City of Saint Paul by virtue of Ordinance No. 12122, approved January 4, 1962,
and containing provisions therefor and prohibiting certain business activities
on Sunday, .defining the violations thereof as misdemeanors and providing the
punishment to be imposed for such violations, as Amended, hereby is further
rmended in the following particulars, to tint, that the 2ansuage therein con-
tained and quoUdr'a3 follow:
"Neverthelessp no provision of this Ordinance shall
be construed to prohibit the retail sale at any such
public place of merchandise essential to, customarily
Gold at, or incidental to the operation of any public
auditorium, bathing beech, amusement park, or sports
arena, nor to prohibit the dispensing of any coupon,
stamp or merchandise premium in conjunction and
simultaneously with the sale of any merchandise not
prohibited by i;nis Ordinance nor to prohibit any ad-
vertisersenis for sale of any merchandise by any newspaper
or other established advertising medium nor to prohibit
any occasional or isolated sale of merchandise in any
