rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and
safety.
TIM COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOFS ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 325.02, approved August 20, 1914,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out all
of the material in Section 9, and by substituting in lieu thereof the following:

provided, when New Year's, Day, January 1; or Memorial Day, May 30;
or Independence. Day, July 4; or Christmas Day, December 25; fall on
Saturday, the preceding day shall be a holiday. When these days fall
on Sunday, the following day shall be a•holiday.
3 Every regular, provisional and probationary employee, except those
• paid under Section 8 G of these Rules, whose regular work week is
from Monday through Friday, shall be granted each such holiday off
with pay if such holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday or Friday. All regular, provisional or probationary employees,
except those paid under Section 8 G of these Rules, who are regularly
required to work on Saturdays and Sundays, shall be granted the same
holidays with pay in each year, as are granted those employees
who work from Monday through Frida and such holidays shall be
granted as close to the dates esta shed above as the convenience of
