Whereas, under and pursuant to Ordinance No. 11542, approved
August 14, 1959, the Car Allowance Committee provided for in Sec-
tion 5, has reported its findings and recommendations in a letter
dated June 29, 1962, and
Whereas, the Council has made a study of said report and
recommendations, therefore be it
Resolved, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul that the
employees listed below shall be entitled to and receive mileage
allowance as follows:

Gentlemen:
The Car Mileage Committee met in my office on Friday morning, June
29, 1962 at 9 A. M. and considered the following requests:
BUREAU OF CIVIL DEFENSE
A request signed by Mayor George J. Vavoulis was for initiation
of action to place Richard L. Manning, Assistant Director, on C
mileage, not to exceed $50.00 per month, effective June 15, 1962.
It was so moved by Mr. Behrens, seconded by Mr. Eichinger, and
carried.
DEPT. OF PARKS AND RECREATION AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS
A request signed by Commissioner Frank L. Loss for C mileage for
Philip Leier, Deputy Commissioner with a maximum of $75.00 per
month, effective June 5, 1962 was next considered. It was moved
and recommended that Mr. Leier be granted mileage and that Mr.
Kothe not be paid mileage until the controversy is settled.
DEPT. OF PUBLIC WORKS
A letter signed by Mr. John J. Eichinger and countersigned by
Commissioner Rosen requested placement of Clarence Sprague, Seni-
or Civil Engineer on B mileage effective Junell, 1962 with a max-
imum of $75.00 per month. It is so recommended to the Council.
A letter dated June 21 signed by Mr. John J. Eichinger and counter-
signed by Commissioner Rosen, requested that Robert Roettger, Jun-
ior Traffic Engineer, be placed on C mileage, $55 maximum, effec-
tive July 1, 1962 as Mr. Roettger is taking on additional duties
and will be driving more. Motion was made to recommend favorable
action on this request.
The above letter also requested the removal of Douglas R. Hanson,
Assistant Traffic Engineer from C mileage - $45.00 maximum, effec-
