A public hearing having been had upon the above improvement upon due notice, and the Council
having heard all persons, objections and recommendations relative thereto, and having fully considered
the same; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of St. Paul that the precise nature, extent and kind of im-
provement to be made by the said City is to grade and surface with bituminous material
the alley in Block l+, Bryantts Randolph St. Addition, and Block 5, Watsonts Addition
from Chatsworth St. to Milton St., also construct a sewer in the alley for storm water
purposes from 40 feet east of Chatsworth St. to the existing sewer in Chatsworth St.
and the Council hereby orders said improvement to be made.
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Commissioner of Public Works be and is hereby instructed and
directed to prepare plans and specifications for said improvement, and submit same to the Council for
approval; that upon said approval, the proper city officials are hereby authorized and directed to pro-
ceed with the making of said improvement in accordance therewith.

The Commissioner of Public Works, having had under consideration the preT
liminary order of the Council, known as Council File No. 205752
approved January 30th 19 62 relative to grade and surface with bituminous
material the alley in Block 4, Bryant's Randolph St. Add.; and Block 5, Watson's Addition
from Chatsworth St. to Milton St. Also construct a sewer in the alley for storm water
purposes from 40 ft. east of Chatsworth St. to the existing sewer in Chatsworth St.
and having investigated the matters and things referred to therein, hereby reports:
1. The estimated cost thereof is $ 5,787.10 (See Letter Attached)

Gentlemen;
It has come to our attention that a petition has been
launched to pave the alley between Watson Ave. and Tuscarora Ave.
bordered on the east by Milton St. and on the west by Chatsworth St.
We feel it is too much of a financial burden at
the present time -for a majprity of us. There are pensioners
and widows involved that are not in a position to carry
this increased tax burden-. Also, paving or grading this
alley would result in it ultimately being used as a race track
and children playing: -in it would result in a bad accident
sooner or later.
We respectfully plead that you do not order any improvements
in this alley. '
Therefore, we the undersigned, protest any paving or -�
