Recognizing th.e effoPJs of those who have made Blooming Rice Street a Success
1 WHEIZEAS, the North End of Saint Paul is a strong community made up of residents, businesses and organizations
2 committed to the fiature of Rice Street; and
3
WHEI2EAS, community members and representatives have created partnerships with the express goal of
maintaining a high quality of life in the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, part of their efforts include a Blooming Rice Street program, which complements the work the City
has done to install new sidewalks and lighting along the Strest; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul's Parks and Recreation Department, and namely Mark Granlund, Arts and
Gardens Coordinator, worked tirelessly to develop beauYification plans and spent a great dea] of time meeting with
Rice Street businesses and interests to implement the Blooming project, as did SPARC; and
WAEREAS, a number of local businesses, residents and organizations have contributed their time, money, skills,
talents and products to the Blooming Rice Street program; and
WHE1tEAS, Linder's Greenhouses committed to providing the plant materials for the hanging baskets along Rice
Street, and voiunteered to work with businesses located along Rice Street that were interested ii� beautification of
their property; and
WHEREAS, the North End Community Foundation offered to administer a fund dedicated to paying for the flowers
and the necessary watering to beautify Rice Street, in addition to making a substantial monetazy contribution to the
beautification efforts themselves. Now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul would like to take the opportunity to thank the many donors who have
contributed to the Blooming Rice Street Fund; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ciry of Saint Paul would like to recognize Mark Granlund for his dedication to
the project and the hours he committed to seeing Blooming Rice Street take root; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that tl�e City of Saint Paul would also like to give special recoa ition to Linder's
Greenhouses for their continued support of the community and their ongoing generosity to their neighbors.
