PETITION OF REMONSTRANCE The signers below being the owners of the property adjacent to the proposed sidewalks on Flandrau Street between Rose and Maryland Avenues,.respectfully petition the Common Council of the City of St. Paul to deny the Petition here- tofore filed herein for the construction of said proposed sidewalks, and base their request upon the following facts: 1. That the sidewalk will run for one block from Rose to Maryland and this one block being one of two blocks between Maryland and the railroad tracks which cross Flandrau at Ames. 2. Along this one block area there is very little foot travel, it not being a traveled school route for children. 3. That no house fronts on Flandrau between Rose and Maryland and that this sidewalk would run for 122.91 feet along the side yards of the four lots that would border on it. 4. That the signers hereof have been informed that certain persons have signed a petition requesting this sidewalk but that no one other than the signers hereof can legally be assessed for this sidewalk. 5. That this sidewalk and the assessment for its construction would be a burden and a hardship upon the signers hereof and would,in no way increase the value of their property. 6. That the signers hereof do not believe that a situation exists which makes this sidewalk a public necessity. 7. Signers would have no objection to the construction of this side- walk even though they do not believe them to be a public necessity if the as- sessments for the same could or would be paid by those persons who seek their installation.
