WHEREAS, Under authority of Council File No. 209493, approved
October 11, 1962, construction was authorized for the Extension of the
Grand Avenue Bridge over the Short Line Road and tracks of the Chicago,
Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Company; and

WHM:ffAS, It is the desire of the Public Works Department and the
City Engineer that the shop inspection and mill inspection of the
structural steel for said bridge be carried out by the State Highway
Department inspection force, and the State Highway Department, through
the Cbmmiissioner of Highways, has indicated its willingness to perform
such service upon proper authorization for reimbursement to the State
by the City of St. Paul.
NOW, THEN, BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Engineer is hereby
authorized and directed to request, by letter to the Commissioner of
Highways, that the State Highway inspection force perform and carry
out the shop inspection and mill inspection of the structural steel
for the aforesaid Extension of the Grand Avenue Bridge, this reso-
lution to be authority for such request by,the City Engineer.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the proper City officers be and they
hereby are authorized and directed to charge the cost of said inspection
- service to P.I.R. Fund Code 3001, to be reimbursed from Municipal State
Aid, and the proper City officers are further authorized and directed
to pay out of said fund the charges for such inspection services to be
performed by the.said Highway inspection force upon receipt by the City
of verified claims franthe Commissioner of Highways.
