4Vhereas, The National Hockey League announced on 7une 25, 1997 that Minnesota Hockey Ventures Group, LP had been
granted an expansion franchise to begin play in the 2000-2001 season; and
Whereas, The Wild has sold out every game in club history, registering 274 consecutive sellouts, the longest cuaent sellout
streak in the NHL; and
Whereas, rotal attendance for the fust six seasons has exceeded five million fans; and
Whereas, The Wild energized the State of Hockey with Stanley Cup Playoffs appeazances in 2007 and 2003; and
Whereas, The Wild's on-ice success has set a standazd for expansion teams, winning its 200th game on Mazch 11, 2007 and
reaching the 200-win plateau in 480 games, faster than any team that has entered the league since 1979; and
Whereas, The Wild have had a positive impact on the economy of Saint Paul, estimated to be in the range of $25 to $30 million
per yeaz;
Whereas, the Xcel Energy Center is widely recognized as one of the best venues for sporting and entertainment events in the
world, having received numeroas accolades for "best fan experience," and four nominations for "azena of the yeaz° by Pollstar
magazine; and
Whereas, the Xcel Energy Center has served as host to prestigious events such as the 2004 NHL All-Star Weekend, the 2002
NCAA Frozen Four, 2004 IIHF World Cup of Hockey and the 2006 Visa Gymnastics Championships, and will welcome the
U.S. Figure Skating Championships and Republican National Convention in 2008; and
Whereas, June 25, 2007 will mazk the 10[h anniversary of the National Hockey League expansion franchise being awazded to
The Wild; and
4Vhereas, that IOth anniversary wil] be celebrated at the June 28, 2007 Wells Fazgo Minnesota Wild Summer Bash;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved [hat June 28, 2007 be declazed Minnesota Hockey Ventures and Minnesota Wild Day in the
City of Saint Paul.
