Loss- - Resolved, That the proper City offi- cers and hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public R Buildings for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council November 5, 1963. ,Approved November 5, 1963. (November 9, 1963) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from October 16 to 31, 1963, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities; and photographing property condemnations for Public Build- ings Bureau. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such as-- Civic events and municipal sports and playground programs required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature; rush procedure requirements in co 7 nation matters; breakdown of equipment necessitated immediate repairs; heavy weekend patronage of parks and park refectories; during the heating season, the plant for the Zoo and Greenhouse must be tended constantly; placing NO PARKING SIGNS for tree trimming on Sunday; and storm damage to boulevard trees required immediate attention. TIEREFORE, BE IT RrSGLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the'provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance.
