THE COUNCIL OF THFi CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance. No. 76.07, approved February 13, 1935,
as amended, be and the same is hereby further amended by striking out the
specifications for the title "Director of Testing Laboratory"', and by sub-

Duties and responsibilities:
Under administrative direction, to be in charge of the operation of
the Municipal Testing Laboratory; and to perform related work
as assigned.
Examples of work performed:

With only the most general features of the work customarily reviewed
by a superior and with final responsibility for the formulation of
working plans and the devising or adaptation of methods, and with
individual responsibility for results of broad scope
To supervise the testing of materials and equipment purchased by the
City, and to devise methods and to draw' up specifications for con- "
ducting such tests.
To cooperate with the Public Works -Department to secure` improved
paving materials; with -the Purchasing Agent in preparing specifica-
- tions for the purchase of various materials; with the Water Depart-
ment on electrolysis and construction problems; with the Public
Safety Department in tests of fire hose, fuels and problems of
safety; with the Department of Education in tests of fuel and boiler
efficiency.
To supervise gas inspections for the Department of Public Utilities.
To do professional research in problems of new materials for paving
construction.
Minimum qualifications: --7,
College graduation in chemical, electrical or mechanical engineering,
or in chemistry, and eight years' professional experience in a
machine testing laboratory, three years of which must have been
as a Senior Testing Technician or equivalent. (No substitution for
education. `
