To cooperate with the Public Works -Department to secure` improved paving materials; with -the Purchasing Agent in preparing specifica- - tions for the purchase of various materials; with the Water Depart- ment on electrolysis and construction problems; with the Public Safety Department in tests of fire hose, fuels and problems of safety; with the Department of Education in tests of fuel and boiler efficiency. To supervise gas inspections for the Department of Public Utilities. To do professional research in problems of new materials for paving construction. Minimum qualifications: --7, College graduation in chemical, electrical or mechanical engineering, or in chemistry, and eight years' professional experience in a machine testing laboratory, three years of which must have been as a Senior Testing Technician or equivalent.
