WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Finance has reported, in
accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence
of an emergency during theperiod from November 16 through No-
vember 30, 1963, which rendered necessary the employment of
certain employees of the Department of Finance for more than
eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the follow-
ing work: spreading assessments and checking assessment spreads
and preparing auditor's report, and bringing transfer book
records up to date; and
WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances: two vacancies in the Bureau of Re-
ceipts and Disbursements and a shortage of experienced assess-
ment clerks;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOEVED That the proper city officers
are hereby..authorized to pay the employees who performed such
work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary
ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
