Classified Civil Service thereof, providing certain-benefits therefor and authorizing the levy of certain taxes; and WHEREAS, said law requires approval of the Council of the City of Saint Paul, among other things, prior do becoming effective; and s c 0 CL g WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council of the City of Saint Paul to provide those persons who would be compelled, upon passage of said Act, to retire from City offices with notice of such compulsory retirement; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul has heretofore, by Resolution, C. F. No. 214052, indicated its intention to consider passage of Chapter 851, Laws of Minnesota for 1963, on or about the 1st day of July, 1964; and WHEREAS, it appears that postponement of Council approval of said Chapter 851, Laws of Minnesota for 1963, until on or about the 1st of July, 1964, would create a number of serious problems with reference to construction to be placed upon certain provisions of said Act, it appearing from the language of the-Act that the Legislature contemplated Council action thereon at some time during the year 1963; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul, by this resolution, is hereby expressing its statement of intent that it will, on or about the 30th day of December, 1963, approve and thereby effectuate the provisions of the aforesaid Chapter 851, Laws of Minnesota for 1963,; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul wishes to state expressly that it is not by virtue of this resolution 4pproving or disapproving Chapter 851, Laws of Minnesota for 19631 ; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby expresses its intent to consider passage of Chapter 851, Laws of�Miilnesota for 1963, and will approve said Act on or about the 30th day of December, 1963; be it COUNCILMEN Adopted by the Council 19— Yeas Nays Dalglish Holland Approved 19— Loss • Tn Favor Mortinson Peterson Mayor Rosen Against Mr. President, Vavoulis 101\1 6-82 ORIGINAL TO CITY CLERK CITY OF ST. FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appropriate City officials notify forthwith the employees who will be required to retire pursuant to Chapter 851, Laws of Minnesota for 1963 during the year 1964; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council also hereby expresses its intention in order to minimize the impact on persons compelled to retire pursuant to the provisions of said Chapter 851, Laws of Minnesota for 1963, when enacted, to permit said employees who would be compelled to retire by virtue of the provisions of said Chapter 851, Laws of Minnesota for 1963, prior to the 1st of July, 1964, to continue employment by the City of Saint Paul in a temporary capacity, pur- suant to Civil Service rules of the City of Saint Paul, until the 30th of June, 1964; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the action of the Council as expressed in Resolution C. F. No. 214052 is canceled and superseded hereby.
