We, the property owners whose homes are in the 1500 block on Cumberland
Street,• ish to protest the decision of the City Council to lay sidewalks in
our bloC11 %U46 i � G.0
We feel that sidewalks are unnecessary and uncalled for inasmuch as
there is no appreciable amount of pedestrian traffic in the block because
it is a dead end street and because all of the property owners drive their
own cars and park in their own yards. Also it would work an unusual hard-
ship on several of the property owners who are already on Social Security
pensions. There is also not a large number of small children living in
this block.
We are, therefore, asking that the City Council withdraw their order to
lay sidewalks in this block.

The Commissioner of Public Works, having had under consideration the pre-
liminary order of the Council, known as Council File No, 211332
approved Feb. 20th. 19 63 relative to constructing new sidewalk
on both sides of Cumberland St, from Arlington Ave, to Hoyt Ave.
and having investigated the matters and things referred to therein, hereby reportss
1, The estimated cost thereof is $'3,25 per lin, ft. for a standard side-
