Fry, President of the Saint Paul Council of Arts and Sciences, has forwarded to the Mayor and Council his letter of March 25, 1963 indicating that additional pledges totaling $81,250 have been made toward the completion of the Civic Educational Center, and that said amount will be made immediate) available to the City upon request, by supplementing the 68,354.97 already received, by loan from the First National Bank of Saint Paul, as indi- cated in their letter of March 25, 1963, copies of each of said letters being attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference, be it RESOLVED, That the Council of the City of Saint Paul accepts the amounts pledged, totaling $81,250, as' indicated in the attached letters, and directs that this amount be added to the amounts already provided for the construction of said Civic Educational Center, the City Comptroller to credit this amount to the proper fund. Vavoulis and Members of The City Council City of St. Paul St. Paul 2, Minnesota Gentlemen: We wish to report that in addition to the $460,000 we received.for the Civic Educational Center Building Fund as noted in your City Council resolution number 205316 of December 28, 1961, we have received four addi- tional pledges at this time totaling $81,250. These pledges have been made by the following individuals: Mr. and Mrs. F. K. Weyerhaeuser Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Davis Mrs. Walter B, Driscoll Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Titcomb As noted in the attached letter, $68,354.97 of this amount is on deposit at the 1st National Bank of St. Paul and the Northwestern National Bank of St. Paul. As also noted, we have been assured that the balance of unpaid pledges will be loaned to us by the 1st National Bank upon our request. At this time, we would like the total amount pledged, $81,250, added to the total amount of money available for the construction of the Civic Educational Center. We further confirm that the amount received by the Council is on deposit at The First National Bank of Saint Paul and the North- western National Bank of Saint Paul. We hereby confirm the understanding whereby this bank will, upon your request, loan you, at current rates of interest, the full amount of any unpaid pledges remaining in this group, either matured or unmatured, that remain outstanding at any time you may require it, for the purpose of construction of the Council of Arts and Sciences building, with the understanding that these loans will be se- cured by these pledges.
