RESOLUTION
SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA
Presented by
Honoring Recipients of the 2007 Sustainable Saint Paul Awards
1 Whereas, the City of Saint Paul has a long history of proactively protecting our air, water and
2 urban landscape; and
4 Whereas, Mayor Coleman and the City Council are committed to making Saint Paul "The Most
5 Livable City in America" and a leader in sustainable urban living; and
7 Whereas, the City has already taken first steps toward making Saint Paul one of the greenest cities
8 in the country, including hiring the City's first sustainability coordinator; formally endorsing the
9 U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement; investing more than $1 million to retrofit city
10 buildings; adopting a"Sustainable Development Policy for New and Renovated Municipal
11 Buildings"; directing City fleets to use E85 and 5-10% biodiesel; and making development of the
12 National Great River Park and Central Conidor Light Rail Transit top City priorities; and
13 Whereas, the City has initiated the 2007 Sustainable Saint Paul Awards to honor outstanding
14 achievements of individuals, businesses, and organizations that are protecting and restoring the
15 environment of Saint Paul; and

17 Whereas, the awards pay tribute to individuals, businesses, and organizations that are
18 demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship through leadership throughout Saint
19 Paul and beyond; and

21 Whereas, by sponsoring these awards, the City hopes to encourage all residents, businesses,
22 community groups and nonprofits in Saint Paul to implement similar projects, such that raplication
23 of these efforts will further enhance the City's quality of life; now therefore be it
24
25 Resolved, that the City of Saint Paul honors the outstanding dedication of the employees,
26 participants and volunteers of for their leadership in 2006.
