Vavoulis Minnesota RECEIVED SAINT PAUL, MINN. In MAYOR'S OFFIrIF A M MAY 2 41963 P M As you may know I am concluding my year as President of the United States Conference of Mayors upon the con- vening of the 1963 Annual Conference in Honolulu next month. Before leaving office I did want to write to you to urge that if at all possible you and your city consider re- activation of St. Paul's membership in the United States Conference of Mayors. During the last twelve months I have learned that the Conference greatly benefits from the fullest possible participation of member cities, particularly of those cities with large populations such as yours. The Con- ference has at this time the highest level of participation among eligible cities in its history, From experience I know that the service the Conference renders the cities in Washington with its expert staff and its ability to pursue individual city problems is not available except through the Conference. I would like to report to the Annual Conference next month on the level of the Conference membership. I hope that we can include in this report the participation of your city. Best regards. Si cerely, Richard C. Lee Q
