WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in
accordance with Section 53 of theCity Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from October 1 to October 15, 1963
which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of
the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day
or forty hours per week in doing the following work:
Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair.
Dispatching men for emergency repair work.
Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency wok.
Operating equipment on emergency repair work.
Emergency calls for sewer maintenance.
Tending fires at Asphalt Plant on Sundays and holidays.
Taking care of complaints at city yards.'
Drawing plans and specifications for grading and paving jobs.
Servicing municipal equipment.
Making up- sidewalk assessment reports.
Inspecting city improvement jobs.
Watching Municipal Equipment during off hours.
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping
city streets free from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant
continuously, taking complaints at City Yards, completing plans
and specifications for grading and paving jobs, need for grade profiles
and house numbers, completing sidewalk assessment reports, keeping
city equipment in good running condition, and inspecting work done
by contractors on street and sidewalk work.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city
hereby authorized to pay the-employees who performed
accordance with the provisionscftheCouncills salary
No. 6446.
