CITY OF SAINT PAUL. MINNESOTA
Whereas, in today's world it is easy to become lost in despair and frustration, thinking all hope is lost for
better times; and
Whereas, Gary Fitch, letter carrier from Minnesota, determined that everyone should have hopes and
dreams beyond their present circumstances, and that through his position as a letter carrier for the United
States Postal Service, he can gather those hopes; and
Whereas, Gary Fitch encourages all of us to write down our hopes and dreams as a first step to seeing those
hopes fulfilled; and
Whereas, Gazy Fitch will gather those hopes and dreams during his bicycle ride across the United States
this summer from Seattle, Washington to Washington, D.C.; and
Whereas, all the letters collected will be scanned on to a disc and launched into space by NASA,
representing the launching of our hopes and dreams; now, therefore be it
Resolved, that the Saint Paul City Council urges all Saint Paul residents to commit their hopes and dreams
to paper, and mail them in a stamped envelope to "Letter of Hope"; and be it
Further Resolved, that the Saint Paul City Council urges Saint Pau1 residents to welcome Mr. Fitch when
he arrives in Saint Paul, and perhaps even join him on their bikes, on Tuesday July 3, 2007; and be it
Finally Resolved, that the Saint Paul City Council commends Gary Fitch for his efforts to keep our hopes
and dreams alive, and wishes Mr. Fitch safe travels during his very worthy endeavor to remind us all how
important our hopes and dreams truly are.
