Drakeks 2nd Addition to the City of St. Paul.
Also condemn and take an easement in the land necessary for slopes, cuts and
fills, including right of removal of lateral support from Lots 11, 12, and 13,
Block 11 Drake's 2nd Addition to the City of St. Paul, occasioned by the excava-
tions thereof or construction of slopes-required for the grading and paving of
Jackson Street from the north right -of -way line of the Great Northern Railway Com-
pany to Acker Street, Acker Street from Jackson Street to Cortland Place, and
Cortland Ylace from &cker Street to Sycamore Street, and the Council hereby orders
said improvements to be made.
Resolved Further, That the following land, land's or easements therein be
and the same are hereby ordered to be taken,lappropriated, and condemned for the
purpose of making said improvements, viz.:
Lands Taken:
That part of Lot 11, Block 1, Drake's 2nd Addition to the City of St. Paul,
lying northwesterly of the following described 1.1ne: beginning at a point on the
northerly line of and 9.4 feet westerly of the northeast corner of said Lot 11;
thence southwesterly on a curve to the left havin6 a radius of 90 feet to a point
on the south line and 18 feet easterly of the southwest corner of Lot 11; also
that part of Lot 12, Block 1, Drake's 2nd Addition to tht City of St. Paul, lying
northwesterly of the following described line: beginning at a point on the north
- --line of and 18 feet easterly of the northwest corner of said Lot 12; thence bear-
ing southwesterly on a straight line to the southwest corner of said Lot 12;-
also all of Lot 1 and those parts of Lots 2 and 3, Block 2, lying easterly of a
line described as follows: commencing at a point on the'south line of and 20
feet westerly of the east line of said Lot 2; thence northeasterly on a straight
line to a point on the north line of and 5 feet westerly of the east line of said "`,
Lot 2; thence northeasterly to the northeast corner of said Lot 3, in Block 2,

Easement Taken=:!
An easement in the land necessary for slopes, cuts and fills, including
right of removal of lateral support from Lots 11, 12, and 13, Block 1, Drake's' '
2nd Addition to the City of St. Paul, occasioned by excavations thereof.or con-
struction of slopes to the extent shown on the plat on file in the Office of
the Commissioner of Public Works., in the matter of grading and paving of Jackson'
Street from the north right -of -way line of the Great Northern Railway to Acker
Street 3 Acker Street from Jackson Street to Cortland Place, and Cortland Place
from Acker Street to Sycamore Street.

matter of opening, widening, and expanding the intersections of Acker Street at
Jackson Street and Acker Street at Cortland Place, by condemning and taking for
street purposes the following lots: all of Lot 11 and those parts of lots 12
and 13 lying w sterly of a line described as follows: commencing at a point on
• the north li o and 35 feet easterly of the west line of said Lot 12; thence
sou westerly on a straight line to a point on the south line and 15 feet east -
,erly of the west line of said Lot 12; thence southwesterly on a straight line
to the southwesterly corner of said Lot 13, all in Block 1, Drakets 2nd ..Addition
to the City of St. Paul. Also all of Lot 1 and those parts of Lots 2 and 3 lying
easterly of a line described as follows: commencing at a point on the south
line of and 20 feet westerly of the east line of said Lot 2; thence northeasterly

and the Council having heard all persons, objections and recommendations rela-
tive thereto, and having fully considered the same; therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Council of "the City of St. Paul that the precise nature,
extent and kind of improvement to be made by the said City is opening, widening and
expanding the intersections of Acker St. at Jackson St. and Acker St. at Cortland
Place by condemning and taking for street purposes the following lands: that part
of Lot 11, Block 1, Drakets 2nd Addition to the Gity of St. Paul, lying northwesterly
of the following described line: beginning at a-point on the'northemot line of
and 9.4 feet westerly of the northeast corner of said Lot 11; thence southwesterly

To the Honorable Mayor and Council
of the City of Saint Paul
Gentlemen:
Subsequent to the passage of C. F.
212699 in the matter of opening, widening, and expanding
the intersections of Acker Street at Jackson and Acker
Street at Cortland Place, it developed that Lots 9, 10,
and 11, Block 1, Drake's 2nd Addition to the City of St.
Paul, had been sold but that the contracts for deed and
deeds had not yet been recorded.
Through negotiations with the new
owners and with the approval of the Department of Public
Works it has been determined that an area less than that
provided for by the above -noted council file would be
sufficient for the City's needs. I, therefore, recom-
mend passage of the amended final order attached hereto.
