Resolved, That the proper City offi-
cers are hereby authorized to pay
certain employes in the Department of
Public Utilities for extra employment
as described in the resolution.

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accor-
dance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from July 1, 1963 to July 15,
1963 inclusive which rendered necessary the employment of
certain employees of the Department of Public Utilities for
more than.eight hours per day or forty hours per week in
doing the following work:
Making emergency repairs to street lighting circuits,
Making air pollution tests,
Making concrete block tests,
Supervising the activities of the City Market,
and
WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Overtime work required to restore street lighting service
immediately for public safety,
Work necessary at irregular hours to complete tests for
federal agency,
Completion of tests requiring continuous attention,
Saturday and Holiday work made necessary because of in-
t'- a�,dreased activity at the City Market,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay
the employees who performed such work in accordance with
the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance
No. 6446.
