RECOGNIZING THE ALIVENESS PROJECT'S 2007 DINiNG OUT FOR LIFE EVENT

2 WHEREAS, The Aliveness Project was founded in 1985 by a group of people living with HIV(AIDS and has served the loca]
3 HIV/AIDS communiry for over 22 years; and,
4 WHEREAS, over 1,350 individuals benefit from the services of The Aliveness Project every year—representing 1 in 4
5 Minnesotans living with HIV/AIDS; and,
6 WHEREAS, The Aliveness Project prepares and serves over 28,000 meals each year and distributes over 39 tons of food she]f
7 items; and,
8 WHEREAS, Each holiday season, over 570 baskets are distributed to members of The Aliveness Project, representing over
9 1,200 people, including more than 450 children; and,
10 WHER6AS, nearly 3,000 sessions of acupuncture, massage, shiatsu and other complementary therapeutic treatments are
11 provided annually by The Aliveness Project; and,
12 WHEREAS, The Aliveness Project provides educational workshops, counseling and support goups, and every year more than
13 700 people voluntear over 27,000 hours to he]p with the ongoing work of The Aliveness Project; and,
14 WHEREAS, Dining Out for Life, which raised over $100,0001ast yeaz, is the major fundraiser to support the extraordinary,
15 continuing work of The Aliveness Project; and,
16 WHEREAS, in 2007, one hundred and thirty-six restaurants statewide will participate in Dining Out Fw Life and the hope is to
17 raise at least $ ll 8,000 for The Aliveness Project; and,
18 WHEREAS, Thursday, April 26, is The Aliveness ProjecYs 13th annua] Dining Out for Life event and we wish to honor their
19 hazd work on behalf of the people of their community and the State of Minnesota;
20 NOW, THEREFORE, BECT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Ciry Council recognizes The Aliveness ProjecYs 2007 Dining
21 Out for Life event and encourages all residents to bring their appetites to one of the 136 participating restaurants in support of
22 this worthwhile effort.
