PAUL FCOUNCIL NO. ��44 OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK COUNCIL RESOLUTION - GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONE WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from March 16 to 31, 1963, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and play- grounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow- ing facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such as:, Civic events and muni- cipal sports and playground programs required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature; breakdown of equipment necessitated immediate repairs; during the heating season, the plant for the Zoo and Greenhouse must be tended constantly; and removal of winter's accumulation of twigs left under the snow on boulevards by tree trimming operations could not be deferred further. Loss-- - Resolved, That the proper City offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay cer- tain employes in the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public BuRd- ings for extra employment as described in the resolution. (April 6, 1963) THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per- formed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
