RESOLUTION
CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA
Presented by
1 WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Mays Magnet School is a school rich with diversity, located within Wazd 1 at
2 560 Concordia Avenue, Saint Paul, Minnesota; and
4 WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Mays Magnet School's gracious Principal is Ms. Graneze Fretwell; and
6 WHEREAS, the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), a non-profit educational foundation,
7 motivated by its mission, focused on the student; and
9 WHEREAS, The IBO is a recognized leader in the field of international education, encouraging srixdents
10 to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged world citizens; and

12 WHEREAS, the International Baccalaureate / Primary Years Program, known as (IB/PYP) provides an
13 international education that focuses on the total growth of the developing student within a rigorous

academic program; and
WHEREAS, the IB/PYP program draws on research and best practices with a wealth of knowledge and
experience from International Schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant
educational framework for all students; and
WHEREAS, all International Baccalaureate Schools must offer a Global Language; Mays will offer
Spanish as its Global Language; and
WHEREAS, after three years of intensive training, collaboration and curriculum writing, Benjamin E.
Mays Magnet School has been authorized as an International Baccalaureate / Primary Years Program
(IB/PYP) School; and
WHEREAS, The IB/PYP program will serve Benjamin E. May's students grades Kindergarten through
Sixth Grade; and
30 WHEREAS, Benjamin E. Mays Magnet School learned of their International Baccalaureate authorization
31 on February 22, 2007; and

33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby recognize and
34 congratulate the hard work of the outstanding Students, Principal and Staff of Benjamin E. Mays Magnet
35 School in the City of Saint Paul; and

37 THEREFORE, BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby recognize
38 the hazd work and dedication of each individual that went into gaining this outstanding educational
39 accomplishment on behalf of the State of Minnesota, Saint Paul Public Schools, and, specifically,
40 Benjamin E. Mays Magnet School.
