07-251COUNCIL FILE #: �� �� � GREEN SHEET #: 3037049 Resolution City of Saint Paul, Minnesota �` 4 WHEREAS, Mr. Max Metz�er was a long time supporter of the Music in the Parks program, and the 56 yeaz director of the � Music in the Parks Pops Ensemble for concerts held Sunday afternoons during the sununer months at Como Lakeside 6 Pavilion; and 7 9 10 I1 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 ;2 33 34 ;5 36 37 38 39 40 41 WHEREAS, Mr. Metzger passed away on July 22, 2006; and WHEREAS, prior to passing Mr. Metzger arranged for a portion of the proceeds of his estate to be directed to the City of SainY Paul; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned estate proceeds are estunated to be $50,000; and WHEREAS, Mr. Metzger's intentions were for this contribution to be specifically used to aid in the continuation of the Summer Pops Ensemble Concerts at Como Lakeside Pavilion which had fallen into financial strife; and WHEREAS, it is Yhe desire of Parks and Recreation to see through with Mr. Metzger's mtentions through the creation of the Max Metzger Memorial Pops Fund; and WHEREAS, upon receipt, Mr. Metzger's full contribution will be deposited in this fund, along with future donations received for the Music in the Parks Pops Ensemble, and all forthcoming interest earned thereon; and WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursaant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $50,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2007 budget; and WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that the following additions be made to the 2007 budget: CURRENT AMENDED FINANCING PLAN: BUDGET CHANGES BUDGET 729 - Parks' Opportunity Fund 53108 - Max Metzger Memorial Pops Fund 6905 - Contributions and Outside DonaYio�s 0 50,000 50,000 0 50,000 50,000 SPENDING PLAN: 729 - Parks' Opportunity Fund 53108 - Max Metzger Memorial Pops Fund 0210 - Fees - Entertainers 9831 - Contribution to Fund Balance 0 20,000 20,000 0 30,000 3Q000 0 50,000 50,000 42 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Max Metzger Memorial Pops Fund is hereby created; and be iT 43 44 FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul expresses its deepest appreciation and thanks to 45 Mr. Mar Metzger for his 56 year tennre as Director of the Pops Ensemble; and be it 46 47 FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul gives thanks to Mr. Max Metzger and his family for the 48 generous contribution from his estate, and more importantly, the gift of music Max so kindly shared with the citizens of 49 Saint Paul; and be it 50 51 FINAI.LY RESOLVED, that the Council Qf the City of Saint Paul approves these changes to the 2�07 budget.
