Loss— I Resolved, 'That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized .to pay certain employes in -the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for extra employment as described in.the resolution. Adopted by the Council February 19, 1963. Approved February 19, 1963. (February 23, 1963) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreqtion and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existne ce of an emergency during the period from February 1 to 15, 1963, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for-more than eight hours:;per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work; Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities; equipment repair at Municipal Asphalt Plant and photography for Bureau of Public Buildings. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow- ing facts and circumstances; Seasonal requirements fcir protection of public Ir operty and pursuit of departmental activities, such as; Civic events (winter carnival) and municipal sports and playground programs required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature; break- down of equipment necessitated immediate re- pairs; and during the heating season, the plant for the Zoo and Greenhouse must be tend- ed constantly. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per- formed such wort¢ in accordance with the provisions of the Councils s salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
