At that time deletion of the east side from the order in* was considered by the Council but after discussing the matter the Council discontinued the entire order with instructions to the Public Works Department for further study and consideration by the Council at a later date. In December of 1962 the Traffic Bureau made pedestrian and vehicle'counts on this street. The results are as follows: Vehicle count - 707/ 24 hours Pedestrian Count - 7&15 to 8:15 - 12&00 to 12145 4 :15 to 5 :15 East side of street 44 1 42 West side of street 114 15 108 Because of the poor and hazardous condition of the existing walk, and the appreciable traffic and pedestrian movements, the $ econstruction of these walks is recommended on the same basis as other deteriorated walks in the downtown area and elsewhere. It is, proposed to reduce the present 6 foot widths to 5 feet. The Department of Finance has studied the matter.of assessments and benefits on this project and is expected to have a report for hearing. ,a L
