Paul, in behalf of said City and its people, that official cognizance hereby is taken and recorded thereof, in per- manent attestation, of the great and incalculable benefit to -our nation and to the entire world resultant therefrom and secured by his unselfish and constantly efficacious career of public service, more particularly, in his office as President of the United States of America, by His Excellency the late John Fitzgerald Kennedy, wherein he unflaggingly and sedulously strove with unprecedented suc- cess for the attainment and maintenance of World Peace for the establishment of Civil Rights and the free exercise of the same, b`y all of the citizenry of our nation, under the Federal Constitution and laws enacted by the Congress, pursuant to the same, unimpeded or undiminished, by prejudice or discrimi- nation based on race, color, creed, national ancestry or ' other untenable ground; that the people of the City of Saint Paul, in common with those of other parts of our nation and those of other parts of the civilized world throughout his tenure as President of the nation, noted his persistent zeal and resolute endeavor for the alleviation of human suffering by providing succor to the aged and "the indigent, through constitutional, legislative and administrative pro- cesses and which characterized his manifest attitude of charity toward all mankind; and that the people of the City of Saint Paul, in common with the people of every other section of the civilized world, by reason of his premature and tragic death, on the 22nd day of November. 1963, in the service of the nation and the world, have experienced and for an appreciable future time shall continue to experience, a tremendous impact of shock and grief and a sense of irreparable loss and depri- vation; and COUNCILMEN Yeas Nays Dalghsh Holland Loss Mortinson Peterson Rosen Mr. President, Vavoulis 10114 6-62 - In Favor Against Adopted by the Council 19— Approved 19— Mayor 01 r, TO CITY CLERK . PAUL OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK COUNCIL RESOLUTION - GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONER DATE - 2 - COUNCIL . 2�����3 FILE N O FURTHER RESOLVED, that the people of the City of Saint Paul, in common with all other people of the civilized world, throughout his tenure of said high of- fice of the Presidency, noted and appreciated and shall ever remember his undeviating, unselfish and persistent zeal in the devotion of his incomparable talents to the accomplishment of the most laudable objectives for the promotion and protecticn of the Common Weal, particularly in the fields of public endeavor hereinabove mentioned; that his benign attitude, his effective service in the interests of World Peace, his endeavors for the protection and recognition of Civil Rights under law, and his devo- tion to the amelioration of human suffering and the pro- viding of relief and succor to the aged, needy and infirm, shall remain as permanent monuments to his greatness, in the history of the world; that the people of the City of Saint Paul, mindful of the heavybzrden of grief which his death occasioned to his surviving wife, Jacqueline Kennedy, his children, and other members of his family, do hereby express to them profound sympathy, in this hour of bereave- ment; and FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk hereby is authorized and directed to cause an engrossed, certified copy of this Resolution to be prepared and delivered to said Jacqueline Kennedy with all convenient speed.
