Dear Madam:
On October 31, 1963, the City Council referred the matter of the Wulff Funeral
Home Parking lot to this office for further study concerning proposed openings
to the parking lot off an adjoining public alley. This matter was also referred
to the City A?chitect and Traffic Engineer for study.
Messrs. Teig and Johnson met with Mr.Wulffls attorney on Friday, November l and
thoroughly reviewed the location and number of driveways considered desirable
as'well as necessary from the alley. It was mutually agreed that two openings
openings to the alley as agreed upon are as follows: one at tha int[arcantinn
o% the east -west portion of the alley with the north -south portion of the alLe
which _ ab.utts -- and— parall- els —thB W1171 property and the second opening approxi-
mately six feet south of the applicant's north property line. Each of these
driveways would be 22 feet in width and are shown on theapplicant's revised
parking lot plan dated November 3, 1963.
On November 4, the Traffic Engineer, City Architect and our staff met and
reviewed this matter. It was agreed that the revised parking lot plan as
amended was acceptable and therefore recommend approval of the revised plan
dated November 3, 1963.

Honorable George Vavoulis, Mayor
and Members of The St. Paul City Council
Gentlemen:
The City Council requested the traffic engineer to report on the
matter of parking lot access to the alley in connection with the 0. V.
Wulff Mortuary on the northwest corner of E. Nevada and White Bear Aves.
The original recommendation of the traffic engineer was for only two
driveways to the alley. A new plan has been submitted since the pre-
vious, Council meeting on this matter which provides only two driveways
to the alley plus one additional driveway to Nevada Ave. We have no
objection to the recently submitted plan.

Yours very truly,
,tR. a,
Robert G. Peterson
City Traffic Engineer
we the undersigned, respectfully request the City Council to reconsider
the exits granted to Mr. Owen Wulff for a parking lot on the Northwest corner
of White Bear and Nevada Avenues. We do not consider it fair to have traffic
from a business establishment funneled into a residential alley. Most of our
garages are so located that we must enter or exit directly into the alley. It is
also a hazzard to our small children who have used this alley as a walk to and
from school. We had no sidewalk on White Bear Avenue for many years. Some of us
have four or five small children. We as property owners feel we are entitled to
this consideration.
