WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners, by resolution dated
October 23, 1961, and concurred by Council of City of Saint Paul in
Resolution No. C. F. No. 124468, approved November 5, 1941, set forth
-rates-which the City of Saint Paul would pay for fire hydrant maintenance,
plus the cost of installation of all new hydrants within the City; and
, WHEREAS, as the established rate of $5 per year in such resolution
is now far below the actual costs of maintenance by the Board of Water Commis-
sioners, due to increased operation costs in the last twenty -two years; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners pays to City of Saint Paul
and its various departments costs incurred against the Board of Water Commissioners
for improvements, rent of space, by-the City of Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners should likewise be reimbursed
for actual costs incurred by the City and its various departments; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners has heretofore passed a
resolution, a copy of which is hereto attached, marked "Exhibit A" and incor-
porated herein by reference; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul, in addition to paying the original
installation costs of new hydrants, shall reimburse the actual costs of maintenance
of hydrants within the City of Saint Paul, such costs to be smbmitted to the City
Comptroller at the end of each calendar year, for inclusion in the next annual
year's budget and payment then made from such budget, such procedure to be
effective with such costs incurred for the calendar year 1963 to be included in
the 1965 budget and continued annually thereafter.
