Resolved, That the proper city offi-
cers are hereby authorized to pay cer-
tain employes in the Department of
Parks and Recreation and Public
Buildings for extra employment . as
described in the resolution.

WEME S, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public
Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53
of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency dur-
ing the period from April 16 to 305 1963, which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings
for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per
week in doing the following work:
Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and
protection of public parks and playgrounds and
of their facilities.
And WIEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances: *�
Seasonal requirements for protection of public property
and pursuit of departmental activities, such as: Civic
events and municipal sports and playground programs
required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but
temporary nature; breakdown of equipment-jWces:sitatsl
immediate repairs; during the heating season, the plant
for the Zoo and Greenhouse must be tended constantly;;
Sunday time for tree trimmer assisting a house moving
crew; and heavy patronage at golf refectories,
particulary on '-reek ends.
TBERLFORE, BE IT RESOLVEJ), That the proper city officers are
',hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed
such work in accordance with the provisions of the
Council's sgl.ary ordinance, Ordinance No.. 6446.,
