Holland — Resolved, T h a t, the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Water for extra employment as de- scribed in the resolution. • - ( 1963Adopted by the Council February 1, Approved February 1, 1963. 7 (February 9, 1963) WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter the existence of an emergency during the period from January 16th to January 31st, 1963 inclusive, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: (1) Repairing equipment, various stations. (2) Working extra shifts, various stations. (3) Pumping out flooded air vent on MissisAippi River conduit and repairing broken counterweight arm. (4) Driving country crew to and from work. (5) Repairing large main breaks, various locations. AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: (1) Necessary to do work during low consumption hours. (2) Absence of employees on regular shifts. (3) Necessary to have air vents operating properly to prevent loss of pumping. (4) On account of scattered work locations. (5) Necessary to restore service as rapidly as possible. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary,Ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
