WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in
accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the exis-
tence of an emergency during the period from January 15,
1963 to January 31, 1963,'inclusive, which rendered necessary
the employment of certain employees of the Department of
Public Utilities for more than eight hours per day or forty
hours per week in doing the following work:
Making emergency repair4 to street lighting circuits,
Making air pollution test�,�
Working on Winter Carnival act ities.,_
and
WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason -of the following facts and
circumstances:
Overtime work required to restore street lighting
service immediately for public safety,
Work necessary at irregular hours to complete tests
for federal agency,
Operating City equipment for Winter Carnival activities
at the Auditorium,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to
pay the employees who performed such work in accordance
with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
