Under direction of the Director of Personnel, to perform professional
work in organizing, planning, directing, conducting and coordinating
the City's in- service training programs and accident prevention
program in the various departments; and to perform related work
as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To work cooperatively with operating officials to stimulate their
interest in developing and implementing intra -departmental taining
programs and to determine training needs.
To conduct studies to determine the over -all general and specialized
training needs.
To collect and analyze information and conduct necessary research
relative to training needs and available facilities.
To handle the development and implementation of intra- and inter-
departmental training programs.
To provide advice and technical assistance to departmental officials and
supervisors in all phases of intra -departmental training programs.
To act as an orientation and training program instructor or conference
leader.
To conduct studies to evaluate the effectiveness of the 'City's training
program.
To improve training procedures by introducing improved techniques,
procedures, materials, manuals and other aids.
To arrange with colleges and other schools to establish special courses
for City employees.
To organize, develop, conduct and coordinate safety programs.
To orient and instruct supervisory personnel in the methods and
techniques of teaching safety courses.
To analyze statistical information on the frequency and severity of
accidents in order to determine causes, and the effectiveness of
