THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Section 240.09 of the Saint Paul
Legislative Code may be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
"240.09. Bond and Liability. A house sewer
contractor before he shall be allowed to engage in
business shall give a surety bond to the City of
St. Paul in the sum of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000)
to be approved by the Corporation Counsel as to'form,
and by the Commissioner of Finance as to surety, and
to be so conditioned that such work as the house
sewer contractor is to be permitted to perform, shall
be done in accordance with ordinances governing this
class of work, and in accordance with specifications,
rules, regulations and conditions prescribed by,the
Commissioner of Public Works; and further conditioned
to protect and save harmless the City of St. Paul
from any and all liability, damage and expense which
said city may sustain by reason of the granting of
such permit for the making or doing of such work.
A house sewer contractor shall, prior to being allowed
to engage in business, supply to the City of St. Paul
a liability insurance policy providing bodily injury
insurance, including death, in an amount not less than
One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000) for all damages
arising out of bodily injury to or death of one person
and, subject to the same limit for each person, in an
amount of not less than Three Hundred Thousand Dollars
($300,000) on account of any one accident, and further,,
property damage insurance in an amount not less than Fifty
Thousand Dollars ($50,000) for all damages to or destruction
of property in any one accident, and subject to that limit
per accident."
Sec. 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of
the public peace, health and safety.
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force upon its passage, approval and publication.
