Dear Mr. Schroeder:
Due to the location of our new Olin Hall of Science
at the south end of our
existing football field we are moving the field and
track to a position in
the southeast corner of our campus adjoining Snelling
Avenue.
Avenue acid St. Clair
We are also rebuilding three tennis courts
house on Snelling Avenue. Prior
just south of our field
to the start of the
athletic facilities we had a six foot fence plus one
construction of these
foot of barbed wire
enclosing the tennis courts and all of the area bounded by Snelling, St. Clair
and Macalester Street south of the football field except the area along St. T
Clair where there
was temporary veteran's housing.
We now plan to replace this fence with chain link fence n f t
barbed wire one foot hi h on to Experi nce as shown t at the six foot
ence was not of sufficient heig t to exclude the average intruders. The
construction of the tennis courts in Laykold and with either Grasstex or
possibly some other all weather surface on-the new track requires that we have
the protection of the ten foot fence to reduce unauthorized use, damage and
vandalism.
The proposed new fence running around the tennis courts and thenncesoruth along
s' R nub to St. Clair thence west alon the north

courts with some salvaged fencing six feet high.
It is requested that the necessary authorization to install this fencing be
given.
