WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Finance has reported, in
accordance with Section,53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from March 1 to March 15, 1963,
which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of
the Department of Finance for more than eight hours per day or forty
hours per week in doing the following work: spreading assessments
and checking assessment spreads and preparing'auditorts report,
and bringing transfer book records up to date; and -
WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances: two vacancies in the Bureau of Receipts
and Disbursements and a shortage of experienced assessment clerks;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers
are hereby authorized.to_pay the employees who performed such work
in accordance with the provisions of the Councilts salary ordi-
nance, Ordinance No. 6446.
