1963, the Board of Water Commissioners
adopted the following Resolution:
- WHEREAS, the House of Representatives of the United States
of America has under consideration H.R. 2105 introduced by
Representative Reuss January 17, 1963, said bill would bar
from interstate commerce after June 30, 1965 all surface-
active detergents which do not meet standards of decomposa-
bility to be set by the Surgeon General of the United States,
as a means of controlling the growing pollution of our rivers
and streams and of ground water, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of
Saint Paul has as its source of water supply the Mississippi
River and supplies water to Saint Paul and adjacent commun-
ities, and
WHEREAS, the growing detergent pollution could well affect
this water supply and be detrimental to Saint Paul and ad-
jacent communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners of the City
of Saint Paul endorse H.R. 2105;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City
of Saint Paul does hereby concur in the aforesaid Resolution of
the Board of Water Commissioners, and, further, does endorse that
bill known as H.R. 2105, and urge its adoption by the present
Congress of the United States of America.
