Under general direction, to perform important professional work in the supervision of the nursing activities in the public schools; and to perform -related work as assigned. Examples of work performed: , To carry out and put into effect the Board of Education health program under the direction of the Director of Special Services. To supervise the Public Health Nurses in the public schools. To consult with nurse supervisors on problems of implementing the health program. To study methods and procedures and make recommendations for changes. q Minimum qualifications: College graduation and certification as a public health nurse and certification as a public school nurse, and, two years' experience as a Public Health Nurse II. Examples of work performed: To organize and promote health work among school children. To assist medical examiners in examining children for physical defects and communicable diseases, and to do follow -up work. To instruct children in the formation of health habits, and to give health talks, To give first aid when required. To visit the homes and give instructions in the care of children, To schedule and give audiometer tests, keep related records and assist in necessary follow -ups. To prepare patients in the clinic for the examining physicians. To give medical tests under the direction of the physician. To visit the homes of tubercular patients to instruct the patients in caring for themselves or to instruct others in assisting them, To give bedside care when necessary and in such cases to do general nursing, To see that patients" are pYov`ided' with such supplies a`"a�eni`slre'd— `M`�` –"' by the public agency, To assist in making arrangements for those who are eligible to be placed in sanitariums, hospitals or preventoriums. To inspect nursing and boarding care homes for adequacy of ' facilities, cleanliness, records, space, nutrition, and general conformance to laws governing such establishments. Minimum qualifications: College graduation and certification as a public health nurse and certification as a public school nurse. Must be at least 21 but less than 45 years of age. Examples of work performed: To supervise the work of, and advise, assigned personnel. To plan and recommend improvements and changes in public health nursing programs. To discuss special cases and problems with nurses. To confer with physicians, school principals, clinic personnel, and other agencies. To make reports of work accomplished. To receive complaints, and to handle correspondence. To supervise the maintenance of records. To assist in planning and conducting in- service training programs. To make special investigations of difficult cases. To supervise an audio - visual health program. Minimum qualifications: R__ ;. College graduation and certification as a public health nurse and certification as a public school nurse, and three years' experience as a Public Health Nurse I. (No substitution for education.)
