CITY,OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA
Presented by
WHEREAS, Dave Jaszczak has had a long and eventful career with the CiTy of Saint Paul which has spanned more
than three decades; and
4 WHEREAS, in 1972, Dave began his career as a Field Clerk at the Saint Paul Police Impound lot where he worked
5 for nearly four years, and in 1976 became a Stores Clerk with the Saint Paul Regional Water Utility, where he
6 worked a brief six months; and

8 WHEREAS, in February of 1977, Dave became a Groundsworker with the Saint Paul Division of Parks and
9 Recreation—Operations Section, and continued to advance through the years to a Grounds Gew Leader in 1988 and
10 later a Park Maintenance Supervisor in 1998; and

12 WHEREAS, with Parks and Recreation, Dave has performed most every job and worked in most every park location
13 in the city, demonstrating good work ethic, high standards, team work, innovation, leadership, and finally served as a
14 mentor for younger supervisors and other employees; and

16 WHEREAS, as a supervisor, Dave worked in the busy Como Park District and later moved to the Parks South
17 District which encompasses Highland, Mounds, Downtown, and the West Side--including Harriet Island; and

WHEREAS, Dave, among his many other duties, mastered the juggling of preparing for, co-managing, and cleaning
up for multiple and major events such as the Hmong Sports Tournament, Taste of Minnesota, Irish Festival, and
countless others, accommodating and satisfying thousands of citizens and visitors to Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Dave volunteered to actively serve in many other capacities and committees over his career, including
time with the Manual & Maintenance Supervisors Association and the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Retirement
Committee--which honors those who retired before him--and where he served as Chairperson for many years; and
WHEREAS, Dave's idea for retirement is to eventually move with his loving wife Ruth to their dream location in
Mesquite, Nevada, where they plan to golf, visit nearby casinos, relax and travel the southwest; and be it further
RESOLVED, that in appreciation for his many years of service, Wednesday, November 14, 2007 is hereby declared
Dave Jaszczak Day in the City of Saint Paul.
