NHEREAS, The Commissioner of Finance has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from June 1 through June 15, 1963, which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of
Finance for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in
doing the following work: spreading assessments and checking assessment
spreads and preparing auditor's report, and bringing transfer book
records up to date; and
WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts
and circumstances: two vacancies in the Bureau of Receipts and Dis-
bursements and a shortage of experienced assessment clerks;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESCLVED That the proper city officers are
hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
