F. No. 7 AN ACT CI1420 RELATING TO THE MARKING OF PATROL VEHICLES IN THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: Section 1. \Notwithstanding the provisions of ,Minnesota Statutes 1961, Section 169.98 to the contrary, the commissioner of public safety of the city of Saint Paul may authorize the use of specially marked patrol vehicles that have only the marking of the Saint Paul police department insignia on the right hand door for primary use of enforcement of traffic regulations when, in the commissioner's judgment, the use of specially marked patrol vehicles will contribute to the safety of the traveling public. Sec. 2. The number of such specially marked patrol vehicles used in the enforcement of traffic regulations shall not exceed ten percent of the total number of patrol vehicles. Sec. 3. All such specially marked patrol vehicles shall be operated by a uniformed officer and 'equipped with red lights and siren so as to clearly indicate to the driver of a car which is signaled to a stop that the specially marked patrol vehicle is being operated by the Saint Paul police department. Sec. 4. The color and markings of patrol vehicles used in accordance with the provisions of this act shall have the approval of the commissioner of highways. Sec. 5. This act shall become effective only after its approval by a majority of the governing body of the � 1 H. F.
