The length of 24 -inch Reinforced Concrete Pipe as shown between Manhole 12 and the existing manhole at Bush and Johnson Parkway is incorrectly shown as being 220.0 feet. The correct distance is 320.0 feet. The bidders attention is further called to the list of approximate quantities and the reference to 24 Inch Class III R.C.P. Relief Sewer on line seven. This line should be corrected to read as followss " 316 Lin. Ft, 24" Class III R.C.P. Seventh Stn indicate that the paving in E. Seventh St. consists of brick pavement over concrete base which has been overlaid with asphaltic concrete. The center 19 feet of the roadway was paved by the Street Railway Co, and contains street car rails. The paving between these rails probably consists of granite blocks overlaid with asphaltic concrete. The Sewer Contractor shall restore these paved sections as follows: The sewer trench shall be carefully backfilled and the backfill compacted in 6 inch lifts as described for Type III backfill in the Standard Specifications, up to approximately ten inches below the surface of the brick pavement that was not removed. Then the Contractor shall construct a 6 inch minimum thickness of,HE -AE con- crete base up to the bottom surface of the brick or block. After the base has been properly cured, a layer of tar paper shall be placed over the 6 inch concrete base and an additional thickness of HE -AE concrete poured to the top of the existing block or brick. After the upper concrete layer has been properly cured, the'Contractor shall place an asphaltic concrete wearing course at least 2 inches in thickness, Type B, over the concrete base. The asphaltic concrete surface shall conform to the existing undisturbed surfacing. The records in the Department of Public Works for the existing paving in Minnehaha Ave. at Atlantic St. is a 6 inch thick concrete base overlaid by lZ inch thick binder course and by 12 inch thick wearing course. The Sewer Contractor shall replace the concrete base with a minimum thickness of 6 inch " Class HE -AE concrete or in cases where the concrete base exceeds 6 inches, equal to the thickness of the existing base. The new concrete base shall be placed, finished and cured as specified in Section 7 of the Standard Specifica- tions. All removed rails, block or brick become the property of the Contractor and shall be removed by him from the construction area.
