WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with
Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from June 1 to June 15, 1963 which rendered necessary the
employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for
more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the
following work:

Resolved,.That the proper city offi-
cers are, hereby authorized to pay
Dispatching men for emergency repair work certain employes in-the Department of
Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work Public works for extra employment as
# described in the resolution.

Emergency calls for sewer maintenance (June 15, 1M)
Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays
Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans & specifications for grading & paving jobs
Mimeographing grade profiles & revising house numbers
Servicing municipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessment reports
Inspecting city improvement jobs
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping
city streets free from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant
continuously, taking complaints at City Yards, completing plans &
specifications for grading & paving jobs, need for grade profiles and
house numbers, completing sidewalk assessment reports, keeping city
equipment in good running condition; and inspecting work done by
contractors on street & sidewalk work.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
