Hon. Council
City of Saint Paul
Gentlemen:
The McDonald Motor Sales have made application for an
over - height fence to protect the storage lot for new
cars at Duke and Superior Streets, Saint Paul. They are
requesting a seven foot high wire fence with two strands
of barbed wire.
It is the recommendation of this office that they be per-
mitted to construct this over- height fence with the barb-
ed wire projecting inward toward their property rather
than outward.
Yours truly,
Al d H. Schroeder

We rent from Holm and Olson Company a vacant lot located at
Duke and Superior, St. Paul, for the purpose of storing new
cars.
In recent weeks we have suffered a considerable amount of
vandalism damage to our cars. This damage is in the nature
of scratches, small dents, and other damages which have re-
quired a considerable amount of loss to us to repair.
There is existing on this vacant lot a five and one -half foot
fence, and we have extended the height of this fence on the
back side to seven feet. In addition, we have installed flood
lights with a clock timer to deter anyone from entering the
lot.
It is now requested that you and the City of St. Paul Council
permit us to install one or two strands of barb wire approx-
imately four inches above the existing fence. We feel that
this additional protection will stop any vandal from climbing
over the fence and continuing to damage our automobiles.
Respectfully submitted,
MCDONALD MOTOR SALES
