Dear Sir: The City Council requested that you draw a resolution granting a permit to Peter A. Fedorowski to construct a fence at 1111 Burnquist Street, as described in the attached letter of A. H. Very truly yours, -/ Y City Clerk CITY OF SAINT PAUL - MINNESOTA 8 Ye 4 CSI T- Y OF SAINT Capital of Minnesota i P A U L BUREAU OF PUBLIC BUILDINGS ALFRED H. SCHROEDER, City Architect 445 City Hall, Zone 2 CApital 4 -4612 Ext. 361 August 22, 1963 Hon. Mayor and City Council City of Saint Paul Gentlemen: We are attaching a letter received from Peter A. Fedorowski of 1111 Burnquist Street, Saint Paul 6, in which he requests approval of an overheight redwood fence. Our inspector has made an inspection of the site and inter- viewed the neighbor. It is recommended that Mr. Fedorowski be permitted to erect twenty one feet of a five foot high louvered, fence, starting • at'the west end of the adjoining garage and that for the next twenty one feet of fence at the rear of the dwelling a six foot fence be permitted. This will be satisfactory to the owner. Yours truly, Alf d H. Schroeder CI ARCHITECT A rI Mr. Al Schroeder Architect City of St. Paul Courthouse St. Paul, Minn, Re: Redwood Fence 4 sections: 716" x 1OFt. BUREAU 4F PUBM BUILDINGS RG e 1!A3's3 Dear Mr. Schroeder: J'`+ j-- Today your inspector came to see us about the height of a Redwood Fence we installed a few days ago. The primary reason for the fence height is complete privacy. Among our closest rela- tions are three Nuns that come to visit us during the summer months. A11 year long they look forward to our "patio picnics ". However, it is a strict rule with them that they must have complete privacy while eating,, sleeping and relaxing. In the past, during these "patio picnics" our neighbors, the Vaughans, continually stood and gawked at the Nuns, as though they were frieks of nature. To us, this is an insult and puts us in a very embarassing position, trying to explain the narrow - mindedness of the Vaughan. These same Vaughan also amuse themselves many times by "watching" us eat on our porch. Many times we have to pull the shades down in order to have a peaceful meal. A second important reason for the absolute necessity of having the Redwood Fence high is that it will finally enable my wife to hang out her wash out -of- doors.. Up to now, it seems each time she has her wash out, Mrs* Vaughan dusts her rugs, dust mop, etc., and many times the clothes had to be rewashed and dried in the dryer. It has been two or three years since my wife last hung out her wash to dry. The same holds true for airing out our drapes, blankets and such. Originally, about three years ago, we planted a rose -bush hedge that added beauty to both our yard and theirs. However, their small daughter pricked her finger once while trying to reach for a branch, so ever since then they have harrassed us. ?past week we returned from a 3 -day vacation and found the rose bushes all brown, curled,-leaves, etc. That was when we decided to tear them out and put up a high Redwood Fence that would give us the privacy we need, and keep the neighbors from harrassing us about the "pricked finger! The complete Redwood Fence cost us approximately $150.00, which put a hardship on our finances right nowe However, in order to have peace, we built it. We would very much appreciate your O.K.ing the height of this fence, in view of the above circumstances. -2- In regard to the Building Permit, we were unaware that we had to have one. So as soon as we find out how much we owe, we will gladly pay it. Thank you for considering this matter favorably. Yours very truly, 14 Peter A. Fedorowski 1111 Burnquist St. St. Paul, 6, Minn.
