To the Commissioner of Finance of the City of Saint Paul:
The Commissioner,of Public Works, having had under consideration the pre-
liminary order of the Coun,cil9 known as Council File No. 211922
approved Mar. 29th. 19 63 relative to reconstructing the side-
walk on both sides of Congress St. from State St. to Ada St. and by
doing all other work which is necessary and incidental to complete
said improvement._
and having investigated the matters and things referred to therein; hereby reportss
to The estimated cost thereof is $ 3.25 per lin. ft., for a standard side-
walk 5 ft, wide arid_$3.80 per lin. ft, for a standard sidewalk 6 ft. wide.

Mrs. Alice Coury, 201 E. Congress Street, called to say
that it is her understanding that her property along with
other property on Congress Street will be taken for public
housing in the near future. She is, therefore, opposed
to the reconstruction of sidewalks if they are going to be
torn up later.

Mrs. Coui.y is elderly and will be unable to attend the
hearing.; Therefore, will you please read this letter at
the hearing on July 12, 1963.
