A public hearing having been had upon the above improvement upon due notice, and the Council
having heard all persons, objections and recommendations relative thereto, and having fully considered
the same; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of St. Paul that the precise nature, extent and kind of im-
provement to be made by the said City is to reconstruct the sidewalk on both sides of Jenks
Ave. from Arkwright St. to DeSoto St. and by doing all other work which is necessary
and incidental to complete said improvement except where good and sufficient side-
walks now exist
and the Council hereby orders said improvement to be made.
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Commissioner of Public Works be and is hereby instructed and
directed to prepare plans and specifications for said improvement, and submit same to the Council for
approval; that upon said approval, the proper city officials are hereby authorized and directed to pro-
ceed with the making of said improvement in accordance therewith.

Re: Preliminary Order #212542, approved May 3, 1963, "Which
proposes to reconstruct the sidewalk on both sides of Jenks
Avenue from Arkwright Street to Desoto Street ".
Since I will be unable to attend the hearing regarding this
matter, I will express my views in writing.
I am now the owner of the property at 423 Jenks, (formerly
owned by Roy and Edith Davidson). After having examined the
sidewalk there, I find that it is still in fairly good
condition. There are no broken sidewalk squares, although
the sidewalk is not perfectly level, but outside of that,it
is not bad. The driveway is still good and the sidewalk to
the east of the driveway is in good condition.
No doubt, too, you are aware that the three lots east of
my property (a total of 180 feet) are vacant and are in the
process of being filled. For this reason I believe it would
be a waste,.of time and money to put in a new sidewalk at the
present time, only to have to be torn up when buildings are
built there and then replaced. I feel that the existing
sidewalks are still in good condition and no new ones are
needed for some time yet.
Please give this your careful consideration when deciding this
matter and inform me in writing as to the action taken.

2. A plan, profile or sketch of said improvement is hereto attached and made
a part hereof.
